Norman J. Miller Jr. was a devoted scoutmaster whose legacy lives on through the countless scouts he mentored and the community he served with unwavering dedication. Born in 1947 to Norman and Betty Miller Sr., Mer. Miller grew up in Mt. Lebanon but maintained deep ties to Bridgeville through his contributions.
On April 28, 1982, with the sponsorship of the Women’s Club of Bridgeville, Mr. Miller founded Boy Scout Troop 2 –a troop that would grow and flourish under his leadership. As the troop expanded, the Rotary Club. of Bridgeville-South Fayette became its charter organization, and Mr. Miller continued to serve as Scoutmaster for the rest of his life, dedicating countless hours to guiding scouts along the path to Eagle and beyond.
Mr. Miller’s service also extended beyond Scouting. He was an active and respected member of the Bridgeville Rotary Club, where he served three terms as president. He also held the title of Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Miller was admired not only for his leadership but also for his character.
But sadly on August 1, 2020, Mr. Miller passed away in his sleep at the age of 73. A Memorial Mass was held in his honor at St. Bernard’s Church. His passing marked the loss of an important member of our community–an individual whose influence will be felt for many generations of come.
Mr. Miller was a man of honor, service, and integrity. His legacy as a mentor, leader, and service member shall not be forgotten.
